Zachary Murdock is a partner in and co-chairs the firm’s Appellate Practice group, and is a member of the firm’s Litigation practice group. Mr. Murdock's practice is wide ranging, emphasizing commercial and complex litigation, and land use and environmental cases. He also has extensive experience defending mortgage foreclosures. He has served as litigation counsel in some of the region's most significant land use disputes including, with Hon. Leon D. Lazer, the successful "Pine Barrens" appeal in 1994, arguably the most important New York State environmental appeal in modern history. Recent notable matters include a complex computer software arbitration resulting in a multi-million dollar award for the client, and a mortgage foreclosure action and successful surplus money proceeding involving claimants including the estate of George Harrison.
Mr. Murdock is admitted to practice in New York and the United States District Court, Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, and is a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association.
Mr. Murdock is a graduate of SUNY at Stony Brook (B.A., 1975), and Fordham Law School (J.D., 1984) where he was research assistant for Prof. Michael Martin's "Evidence" Column in the New York Law Journal. He authored the article "Objecting to Admissibility of Summary Judgment Motion Evidence," featured in the New York Law Journal.
Mr. Murdock is also an operatic tenor soloist, a multi-instrumentalist, and a recorded songwriter (ASCAP).
